Grow Your Vision
Welcome visitors to your site with a short, engaging introduction.
My experience teaching at Emmaus High School broadened my horizons and has given me incredible experience that I will keep with me for life. At Emmaus, I taught drawing and painting courses alongside Mrs. Tracy Maley, levels I through III as well as AP Art Studio. As a dual major with a B.F.A. in Studio Painting, I was able to thrive in this classroom.
I was able to teach watercolor and acrylic painting techniques, introduce digital art via Procreate to students, and teach the properties of various new materials including Prismacolor pencils, charcoal, oil pastels, soft pastels, alcohol markers, and India ink. I also could teach the reasons behind various art movements and reference art history so the students could begin to understand the role of cause and effect in the artworld.

My favorite lessons that I created and taught were part of my Expressive Figure Drawing unit, a unit that was both a foundational stepping stone for less experienced artists, and a deeper challenge for more advanced students. With the students, I simply broke down human anatomy and explained how to imagine the bones and their shapes and positions inside of a figure. I projected a slow, step-by step draw along demonstration, making sure to demonstrate different tried-and-true techniques. At the beginning of each class, we warmed up with 4 quick live model gesture sketches to remember the learned techniques and divert focus away from detail. We explored 5 different types of drawing mediums as well as collage, and then began expressing a story or emotion on our large scale, multi-media Expressive Figure Drawings.

I had an incredible time teaching at Emmaus High School. I’m very grateful to have had an opportunity to help students with my knowledge and experience as an artist, get to know each of their individual motives and interests, and foster growth and exploration in each and every student.
